48 HR Film Contest - IN THE CAN! Current mood: artistic Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
As I begin writing this, the clock on the computer is just about to hit 12:00 midnight on Sunday night. We spent the weekend competing in the 48hr film contest in Austin, TX.
For those who have never heard of it, this contest gives you 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film. You have a blind drawing from a list of Genres and all teams have a character, item and line that must appear in the film.
Right now it seems like a week since we left the house Friday Morning on the way to set up the production office and editing suite. Since Friday we have forged together a script from the ideas hashed out over dinner Friday night. We have spent a FULL day of shooting on Saturday, and a tense day of editing on Sunday. On Sunday night with 20 minutes to spare we turned in our finished product.
I will write more about the contest, but the most important part was that we were able to work with some truly great people. We had a cast and crew that were dedicated, talented and met every new challenge with a smile and a laugh. When you're asked to lie face down in a puddle drenched in blood, what can you do but laugh, (or punch someone, luckily he laughed). We have performances that were amazing in the short time we had to work. We had people going the extra 10 miles just to make sure their part of the puzzle was just right.
I guess I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who worked on the project. Linda and I deeply appreciate every one of you!
If anyone wants to see the film on the big screen, it is playing this Tuesday night at 6pm and Wednesday at 8pm at the Regal Arbor 8 at Great Hills in Austin, TX.
