I was bouncing around YouTube looking at some old recordings of Bill Hicks when I realized, there are a lot of people who don't even know who Bill is.....
Let me start by saying that as a general rule I don't shill people or products. Wait, what am I saying?? I'm an actor. If it pays, I'll do a commercial for "Baby on a Spike". "Have you ever looked at your baby and thought, 'how much more convenient and quiet that baby would be if he were impaled on a spike' New Baby on a Spike brand products make that possible".
Let me rephrase. I am not a shill for free. So if I am taking the time to point out something that I'm not getting paid for, you might want to take notice. Bill would be horrified by this, but seeing as he's dead, he can't be too horrified.
Bill Hicks was perhaps the most intelligent spoken word artist to ever pick up a microphone. He couched his craft in the comedy genre, but make no mistake, Bill was speaking truth.
Bill described an America and a world that I would love to live in. He was branded as an angry comedian because after illuminating this "Hicks" world, he was amazed that more people didn't demand to live there. The complacency of the "Sheeple" was too much for Bill to take.
Take a few minutes to look at a few of Bill's performances. They are free. If you like it, order "Love all the People" from Amazon.
Bill was diagnosed with cancer in 1993 and died in early 1994. He left these words. "I left in laughter, love and Light. Wherever these things are given freely with compassion, I will be there in spirit"
